LONDON REGIONAL ACHIEVEMENT DIALOGUE 4 November 2008 9.30 – 1.00 followed by lunch Croydon Park Hotel, 7 Altyre Road, Croydon, Surrey, CR9 5AA Skills for Life, the Foundation Learning Tier and Functional Skills - What is the Foundation Learning Tier and what does it mean for adult literacy, numeracy and ESOL in London? - What are functional skills and how will their introduction impact on adult LLN learners? - How will the current Skills for Life requirements fit with these developments? This consultative event is for all Skills for Life practitioners, managers and all those responsible for planning and funding Skills for Life provision within the post-16 sector. The event will provide the opportunity to: - Find out about the Foundation Learning Tier and the development of functional skills qualifications for adults - Hear about what is happening in London around these developments - Debate the issues that these developments will have on Skills for Life provision - Discuss the opportunities and challenges - Feed back messages to DIUS, the LSC, the QIA and NIACE This is a free event:Contact james.tullett@niace.org.uk This is the seventh in a series of termly Skills for Life Regional Achievement Dialogues (RADs) supported by DIUS which are organised by NIACE and take place in each of the English regions. Each event focuses on a key issue identified by stakeholders within the region. The RADs provide opportunities to hear from regional policy makers, providers, practitioners and employers about strategic updates, developmental issues and improvements in quality and achievement in language, literacy and numeracy. They also provide a platform for discussion and debate to inform and enhance practice, contribute to thinking about national policy and help shape strategic development at national and regional level.
