Back to events list
Reflect ESOL: Dissemination Event A combination of Paulo Freire’s philosophy and creative visual tools, the Reflect participatory learning approach is used in developing countries for literacy development, community empowerment and social change. Now piloted and adapted by ESOL teachers and evaluated by LLU+, the Reflect ESOL Project is pleased to invite practitioners, managers and policy makers to discuss the project findings, exchange experiences and consider the implications for policy and practice “The messages from the Reflect ESOL pilot project are important and should be disseminated widely. We would recommend the Reflect approach to ESOL teachers as there is much to be gained by using these approaches in conjunction with the messages from other current research, such as ‘speaking from within’, ‘turning talk into learning’ (Cook and Roberts, 2007) and ‘responding to people’s lives’ (Appleby and Barton, 2008)" Pauline Moon and Helen Sunderland – LLU+ London South Bank University, 2008 The events are free and will be held on: - 16 January 2009, 14.30 – 17.00 – ActionAid, Archway – London - 23 January 2009, 14.00 – 16.30 – City of Bristol College – Bristol - February 2009, date and time tba – Esmée Fairbairn Foundation – London - 11 March 2009, 13.00 – 15.30 – LLU+ South Bank University – London For further details and to reserve your place please email your name, job title and contact details to: reflect.esol@actionaid.org To download a copy of the LLU+ report on the Reflect ESOL project, follow the link: http://www.lsbu.ac.uk/lluplus/research/index.shtml
