Reflect ESOL Training in Sheffield Venue: Sheffield Hallam University, City Campus, Howard Street, Sheffield S1 1WB, UK Date: Thursday 30th June Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd July Times: 10am – 5pm For an application form or any query contact Sylvia Ashton. S.Ashton@shu.ac.uk Reflect ESOL is an approach to learning which aims to truly make the most of our learners’ knowledge and skills. Strongly influenced by the philosophy and pedagogy of Paulo Friere, Reflect ESOL works toward creating a liberatory and transformative classroom. Reflect ESOL actively seeks to create the conditions where genuine dialogue can take place and where learners can share their experiences, ideas and concerns as a class community. But more than this, it offers an opportunity to learn more, reflect on, critically analyse and if needed plan action for change. To achieve this, Reflect ESOL provides an ever-growing tool-kit of visualisation, role play and drama techniques. No two classes are ever the same – they are as diverse as the knowledge, experiences and feelings of the learners and teachers.
