UK 'citizenship test' unveiled

1 November, the Government is introducing tests for applicants for naturalisation to show that they have knowledge of language and life in the UK. From that date they will need to show a certificate that they have passed the life in the UK test or that they have attended an English language course which incorporates approved teaching materials on citizenship in the UK. The tests will be conducted at 90 learndirect centres throughout the UK. Based on the 150-page 'Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship” handbook.
