ITT grant 2010-11 - application deadline extended to 6 May 2011 From the IFL We have previously advertised that the deadline for claims for the 2010-11 Initial Teacher Training (ITT) Grant was 31 March 2011. We are aware that for various reasons some providers may have difficulty meeting that deadline. BIS have therefore agreed to extend the deadline to Friday 6 May 2011. It is important to emphasise though that this deadline only applies to claims for courses that commenced between 1 September 2010 and 31 March 2011. Funding flexibilities will allow IfL to meet any such legitimate claims from 2010-11 budgets. Further funding has been secured for grants for ITT courses commencing from 1 April 2011 onwards, which will be met from 2011-12 budgets, so there is less urgency to make these claims. However we encourage 'employers', where possible, to make claims shortly after courses commence. Further details about the 2011-12 scheme will be communicated shortly. Following extensive discussions with the department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), IfL will be administering government grants to offset the cost of initial teacher training (ITT) for teachers who are studying a part-time, 'in-service', Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) from September 2010. Further education (FE) providers will be able to claim a flat rate, non means tested, grant of £400 per individual teacher or trainer through IfL for those who are IfL members. The current agreement is valid only for the 2010-11 financial year. More information & FAQ's http://www.ifl.ac.uk/membership/supporting-new-teachers-grants-for-initial-teacher-training
