The Big Walk for the Ruth Hayman Trust

Following in the footsteps of three pioneering fundraisers 21 years ago, a group of Ruth Hayman Trust (NATECLA's nominated charity) trustees and supporters will be doing a 140 mile sponsored walk along the Grand Union Canal from Birmingham to London.  The Trust provides small educational grants to adults who have come to settle in the UK and whose first language is not English. Many of these are asylum seekers and refugees.

Give them a great send off in Birmingham on Sunday 6 May at the beginning of the Big Walk, join them at any point along the route or in triumph in London on Saturday 19 May.  Please let us know at events@ruthhaymantrust.org.uk if you are planning to join the walk.

Or organise your own big walk

If the Grand Union Canal doesn't pass through your area, feel free to organise your own walk – along another canal or wherever you fancy. If you're a teacher, invite your students along for a fantastic day out, walking and talking and raising money for a great cause. See instructions for walk organisers or email events@ruthhaymantrust.org.uk.
