Life in the UK Test

The test is for those applying for naturalisation if their level of English is ESOL Entry 3 or above.
Applicants can take a multiple choice test at one of the 90 test centres.
Questions are based on “Life in the United Kingdom” ISBN0113413025 @ £9.99 available from The Stationery Office (online from TSO) and from major bookshops including Waterstones. NATECLA does not sell this book.
The cost of the test is £34 and can be taken until passed.

For those applicants learning English who have not achieved an ESOL Entry 3 qualification they need to
Join an ESOL class
Learn ESOL within a citizenship context
Demonstrate progression from initial assessment to out come
Outcome need to be Skills for Life Listen/Speak at a level appropriate to the student
Provider will also need to supply letter confirming ESOL was taught in a citizenship context
Other information
No built-in audit, inspectorate will be expected to monitor content
Next year (possibly) those wanting to settle will also have to meet these standards
Wales, Ireland and Scotland specific material is currently being introduced
